1. Name the parts of an angiosperm flower in which development of male and female gametophyte take place.
Solution:
Development of male gametophyte occurs in the pollen chambers of the anther. Female gametophytes develop in the nucellus of the ovule inside the ovary.
2. Differentiate between microsporogenesis and megasporogenesis. Which type of cell division occurs during these events? Name the structures formed at the end of these two events.
Solution:
Meiosis occurs during both microsporogenesis and megasporogenesis. Haploid Microspores and megaspores are formed from the respective mother cells at the end of microsporogenesis and megasporogenesis respectively.
