Biomolecules – Solutions
1) What are monosaccarides?
Carbohydrates that cannot be further hydrolysed to simpler polyhydroxy aldehydes or ketones are called monosaccarides.
Example: Glucose, fructose.
2) What are reducing sugars?
Carbohydrates that reduce Fehling’s solution into red Cu2O and Tollen’s reagent into metallic silver are called reducing sugars.
