Transport in Plants – Solutions
1. What are the factors that affect the rate of diffusion?
Solution:
Diffusion is a passive physical process in which net movement occurs from a region of higher concentration to a region of the lower concentration. It eventually results in a homogenous solution. Hence, the process is affected by a number of factors.
Some of them are:
- Concentration gradient
- Permeability of membrane
- Temperature
- Pressure
The concentration gradient determines the direction of the flow of the substances.
